Yerkes: Our "Hidden" Crown Jewel

Your recent issue of Momentum in which you spotlighted the Yerkes Center is superb! The wonderfully descriptive and positive emphasis on all aspects of Yerkes Research Center makes it the best article I have ever read about the place where I have worked for over 16 years. I hope that the publication is distributed beyond the Emory community so that others can see our "vision," for we believe that we are at the brink of a revolution in research developments and discoveries of worldwide health significance.

Thank you so much for scoping the Emory community in a very neat and informative publication. I am looking forward to future issues.

I read Momentum from cover to cover and wanted to tell you what a wonderful issue it is. I especially loved the piece on Yerkes and thought (author) Kate Egan did a magnificent job.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate you and your very fine staff on Volume 1, Number 2, summer 1998 edition of Momentum. In every respect, it is a sterling publication, and I especially enjoyed reading about our "hidden" crown jewel, the Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center.

The quality of the publication and the lovely pictures are very, very impressive, and I congratulate you and your staff for a job very well done. I know how proud both Dr. Insel and Dr. Johns must be of you, and I commend you.

Nursing PhD

The article in the Summer issue of Momentum about the nursing school's PhD program looks great. We are very pleased, and I appreciate the coverage given to the School of Nursing.

Difficult Decisions

I read Jennie Perryman's article in Momentum magazine (Summer 1998) and thought it was wonderful. There are so many people dealing with end-of-life issues who don't know what to do!! I have much empathy for people trying to make these difficult decisions while worrying about getting through the complexities of the health care system. Thanks for the very interesting information.

Editor's note: Dozens of students, faculty, and staff expressed interest in participating in the Renaissance Project in response to principal investigator Jennie Perryman's "On Point" article about death and dying. It also was used as a discussion starter in an Emory anthropology class.

Geri Set Revisited

Congrats to you re the first "Big MO" (Spring 1998). It's well written and attractive. I especially appreciate the treatment you gave the "geri set." I wish you much success and hope you'll feature some aspect of our mission again!
