The Last Word

The Cap Worn Around the World

Woodruff Health Sciences Center employees certainly do get around. With Emory Healthcare hats on head, they took the Emory Healthcare name to some amazing places this past year: Underwater. Atop elephants and celebrities. From Spain to Borneo to Moscow. In a rain forest and on a glacier. In surgery?

The beige cap with its Emory Healthcare logo was a holiday gift to employees last year from Michael Johns, executive vice president for health affairs and director of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center. After seeing the caps throughout Atlanta and beyond, the contest was established in March to celebrate employees' enthusiasm for spreading the Emory Healthcare name and to reward employees for their efforts. More than 140 people entered the cap contest.

Perry Sprawls won grand prize with his slide (above) of brightly colored fish fascinated by the underwater sight of the co-director of radiological services at Emory University Hospital clutching his scuba mask with one hand while holding onto an Emory Healthcare cap with the other.
