Karon Schindler oversees internal and external print and online publications as well as photo and creative services for Health Science Communications. Her group's publications have received more than 44 awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Association of American Medical Colleges, and Public Relations Society of America (Georgia chapter), including eight gold and seven silver awards (CASE), the Fenley writing award and awards of excellence (AAMC), and two Phoenix awards (PRSA).

A 2005 alumna of the Woodruff Leadership Academy, she has completed the core and advanced curricula of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and is an AMWA fellow and former president of the Southeast chapter. She also is a member of the Ivy-Atlantic Medical Alumni Magazine Association. She is a former recipient of employee award of distinction from Emory.

Schindler has more than 30 years of experience in medical writing, editing, and editorial management. Prior to joining Emory, she was editor of trade journals produced by publishers in Los Angeles, including Software in Healthcare and Perinatology-Neonatology. She holds a master's in English from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale) and a BA in English and French from Murray State University (Kentucky).
