|Jonathan Simons, MD, Director of the Emory Winship Cancer Institute, and Otis Brawley, MD, Medical Director of the Georgia Cancer Center of Excellence at Grady, announced the appointment of Mitchell Z. Berger, MD, MMM, CPE, as Director of Medical Oncology at the Georgia Cancer Center of Excellence at Grady.
Dr. Berger comes to Grady from Norvartis Oncology in Florham Park, New Jersey, where he was National Director for Regional Scientific Directors. Prior appointments include Medical Director for National Accounts and for Bone Marrow Transplantation at Roche Laboratories in Nutley, New Jersey; Senior Medical Director for Southeast Region at Aetna in Alpharetta, Georgia; and Director of Disease Management at Response Oncology in Memphis, Tennessee.
Board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Berger earned his medical degree at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey. He conducted his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, and a Medical and Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He received his Master's Degree in Medical Management at Tulane University in New Orleans and is also a Certified Physician Executive.
In addition to overseeing and managing Grady's Cancer Program, Dr. Berger will see patients at Grady and Emory Crawford Long Hospitals.
