Ronnie L. Jowers' title changed to Vice President for Health Affairs in June 2000. He had served as Assistant, then Associate Vice President since 1991. The title reflects increasingly broad strategic and administrative responsibilities in addition to his continuing roles as the chief financial officer for the Woodruff Health Sciences Center and for Emory Healthcare.

Mr. Jowers received an undergraduate degree from Furman University and a master of business administration degree from Clemson University. He was Administrator of the Division of Medical Education, Greenville Hospital System, before coming to Emory in 1987 as Administrator for the Department of Internal Medicine, the University's largest department. He also served as Interim Co-Manager of the Emory Medical Care Foundation.

Mr. Jowers has been honored for his work in professional, community, and philanthropic causes.
