Two Emory Healthcare Officials Named to American Heart Association Board of Directors

ATLANTA -- Two Emory Healthcare executives have been named members of the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Division of the American Heart Association. John T. Fox, CEO, and Una Hutton Newman, senior director of marketing, will begin two-year terms on the board July 1.

Mr. Fox (30305) joined Emory Healthcare as president and chief operating officer in 1999. He was named CEO in May 2002. Previously, he had served as executive vice president of Clarian Health System in Indianapolis. As head of Emory Healthcare, he is responsible for all clinical operations of Emory's Woodruff Health Sciences Center, including The Emory Clinic, three Emory-owned hospitals, the jointly owned Emory-Adventist Hospital, and EHCA, LLC, a limited liability company created in cooperation with HCA-The Healthcare Company.

Ms. Newman (30309) joined Emory as head of marketing in 1996 after having served in senior marketing positions with Promina's Southern Regional Medical Center and the Charter Medical Corporation. She has won a number of advertising awards and is an active speaker and presenter at local and national industry meetings.

Last November, Mr. Fox and Ms. Newman led a dramatically successful HeartWalk fundraising drive at Emory Healthcare whose 9,000 employees raised more than $251,000 for the American Heart Association, more than any other health system in the country and second overall among all participating companies nationally.
