ATLANTA -- The Emory Clinic Social Circle celebrates its new facility grand opening today at 551 North Cherokee Rd. in Social Circle. This site is a highly-valued component of The Emory Clinic outside the main clinic facility on the Emory University campus in DeKalb County, and is conveniently located on campus with The Mews, a retirement facility.

Originally located in a quaint wooden house, the new 5,500 square-foot free-standing facility offers nine patient exam rooms, waiting area, procedure room, patient education room and free patient parking. The Emory Clinic Social Circle houses two full-time primary care physicians and a cardiologist.

EmoryÍs Social Circle physicians offer primary care in the areas of internal medicine, gynecology-obstetrics and pediatrics. Social Circle also offers an occupational medicine program for area businesses and industry including: minor emergencies, drug screenings, pre-employment physicals and executive physicals.

The primary care services offered at The Emory Clinic Social Circle can be seen "as an important extension of the health care centers which have developed since The Emory Clinic began its off-campus expansion four years ago,î says William Winkenwerder Jr., M.D., vice president for Primary Care, EMORY HEALTHCARE, and associate director, The Emory Clinic, Inc. ñThis location offers greater opportunities for area residents to see Emory doctors without having to drive into the heart of Atlanta.î

The Clinic will offer family medicine services, comprehensive physicals, EKG, on-site laboratory services, immunizations, minor suturing, nutrition counseling and health screenings.

ñWe are very proud to be bringing some of the finest physicians from the Emory system into this community,î says Monica W. Parker, M.D., The Emory Clinic Social Circle. ñWe will combine this convenience with the other advantages that Emory has to offer. The result is that our patients will have easy access to nationally recognized experts just around the corner.î The architect for the new facility is Maurice Yates, AIA and the contractor is Hoyt Youngblood and Son.

The Emory Clinic Social Circle will operate Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For appointment information, call The Emory Clinic Social Circle at 770-464-0266.
