hocolate, vanilla, strawberry? In May, faculty members Vicki Hertzberg, Richard Levinson, John McGowan, and Kathleen Miner donned waiter's hats and served three flavors of ice cream and a smorgasbord of topp ings to some 75 students and faculty at the Rollins School of Public Health. The occasion was a party thanking participants in the graduating class campaign. The 1996-1997 class raised more than $10,000 for scholarships. With last year's class gift, the t wo-year support for scholarships at the school from students totals $15,000. Dean James Curran was not to be left out of either the campaign or the party, matching the class gift campaign for the past two years with a contribution from the school. At the social, he donned a waiter's hat along with the faculty co-chairs, serving and eating his share of gelato. |

As chairperson of the Annual Fund for the Rollins School of Public Health, it is my privilege to share with you the names of those individuals who helped make the 1996-1997 Annual Fund a resounding success. A more enjoyable task is hard to imagine! We had a stellar year, with giving up 131% over the previous year and average gif t size and total number of gifts increasing among both alumni and friends of the school. As you may know, the Annual Fund effort this past year helped support student scholarships. During the 1996-1997 academic year, the Rollins School of Public Health provided four full scholarships as well as 14 partial scholarships to outstanding studen ts. This support was in addition to that given to students who received scholarships as part of their financial aid package. Our gifts to the Annual Fund helped make these awards possible. Many donors also helped students and the school with other important initiatives. Gifts were made to support student internships and fieldwork, lectures, and the work of specific departments and faculty members. Thank you to everyone who gave so genero usly. To each of you whose name appears in the following donor report, thank you for your support of the school. Your generosity is deeply appreciated. We hope you will continue to see the school's work as vital and help to make the school even stronger with your ongoing financial endorsement. Virginia Shankle Bales, 71C, 77MPH |
